Names and terminology

Persian names admit several defensible romanizations. The receiving authority compares the translation against a passport or identity document, and a mismatch causes rejection. Supply spellings exactly as the identity document gives them.

Translation into Dari or Tajik is not offered. Arabic is taken on only where it appears inside Persian texts, never as a source on its own.
