About me

Born in Saskatchewan, raised in Canada and Iran, based in British Columbia. I work freelance for several translation agencies, with a book translation under way.

My master’s thesis is where a longer-standing interest in linguistics consolidated, and the study has continued since. For a period after graduating I was employed as a community literacy facilitator in Vancouver, working with the regional coordinator throughout: teaching English, developing curriculum, running workshops with volunteer facilitators, and organizing speaking sessions with a partner community centre. A project of my own concerns language acquisition. My work and thinking are situated at the intersection of interaction design, the social sciences, and the humanities.

Between English and Persian I work in both directions. From Dari and Tajik I work into English only. Arabic is taken on only where it appears inside Persian texts; the detail is on language pairs.
